New Zealand Rugby (NZR), one of New Zealand’s largest sporting organisations, has an exciting opportunity available. We are looking for a Tournament Director to lead and deliver the 2021 Rugby World Cup hosted by NZR and World Rugby.

The 2021 Rugby World Cup is the pinnacle event of the women’s game globally and will support the continued growth of girls’ and women’s rugby in New Zealand. As the Tournament Director you’ll be responsible for establishing and leading the delivery team and working with the World Rugby and the wider team at NZR to ensure the success of the tournament and a sustainable legacy for the game in New Zealand.

Reporting to the CEO of NZR, you will be the voice and champion for the Tournament and ultimately responsible for building a high-performing team that will oversee the planning, promotion and delivery of the tournament. You will lead the team that will oversee and integrate a range of program areas including rugby operations, support services, technology, transport, travel and accommodation, venue operations, catering, security, logistics, overlay, protocol, broadcast liaison and team services. You will build the profile of the Tournament, win the hearts and minds of fans and supporters, ensure an outstanding fan experience, and leave a lasting impact on girls’ and women’s rugby in New Zealand.

You’ll excel in being at the forefront of government, rugby network and fan engagement platforms. You’re driven by your passion for women’s sport and have an eye for detail that will ensure the highest level of event delivery. You’ll have a proven record in establishing strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and partners with a view of ensuring the best possible outcomes for all, most importantly a successful tournament which enhances New Zealand’s standing as a leading major events destination.

This is a fixed term position until the end of November 2021, beginning as part-time and building to full-time hours as required. We will finalise and discuss this with the ideal candidate.
