We are looking for an experienced, passionate and motivated educator suitably qualified in the area of Beauty Therapy to join our team of lecturers.  The successful applicant would enjoy working as part of a team and would be committed to providing our students with an excellent learning experience.

As well as teaching in the current Diploma in Beauty Therapy and Epilation (Level 5) programme, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of the new qualification, The New Zealand Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Level 5). We embed ITEC qualifications within our programmes, therefore the successful candidate will engage with ITEC to seek lecturer approval.

Salon/spa experience is essential, international experience an advantage.


  • must hold a Diploma in Beauty Therapy qualification (for example, CIDESCO, ITEC, CIBTAC, or the City and Guilds Advanced Diploma); an aromatherapy qualification at Level 5 and advanced skincare qualifications would be an advantage.
  • will be able to demonstrate confidence, competence and flexibility in using a range of communication strategies including: oral delivery and public speaking, written communication, online presentation and social media skills, highly developed IT skills an advantage.
  • will be able to demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

The successful applicant will have an ability to understand the significance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Otago Polytechnic’s partnership with Kai Tahu to demonstrate culturally safe practice and have the ability to integrate sustainable practices.

Teaching experience in tertiary adult education is an advantage, however, staff without the relevant teaching qualifications are expected to work towards a Graduate Diploma in Tertiary Teaching.
