Our client, Seeka is a Te Puke-headquartered, NZX-listed produce company. Their operations span New Zealand and Australia through their wholly-owned subsidiary Seeka Australia Pty Limited. Their New Zealand operations include growing, picking, processing and dispatching kiwifruit, avocados and kiwiberry to key world markets. Seeka is the largest kiwifruit grower in New Zealand and has grown significantly in the past four years. 

An opportunity has arisen for an energetic HR professional to join their team as HR Manager. 

The Role

As HR Manager you will be responsible for developing and delivering people management strategies which support the overall strategic aims and objectives for the company.  You will also be responsible for a team of 4 people.

You will contribute at both strategic and operational levels in order to identify HR priorities and implement appropriate people management solutions across the following key areas of responsibility:

  • Strategic HR management
  • Hands on operational management including reporting
  • Maintaining resourcing appropriate to business needs
  • Employment relations
  • Workplace engagement
  • Performance management
  • Change management
  • Reward and recognition

You will provide expert professional advice and support to managers and staff on all aspects of people management, which fully reflects Seeka’s desire to be an employer of choice, current employment legislation and best practice. 

The Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification ideally in HRM
  • Significant HR experience in a commercial or manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of New Zealand employment and payroll related legislation
  • The ability to establish credibility with ease
  • Leadership experience
  • Well-developed relationship management experience
  • An inclusive collaborative working style 
  • A high level of professionalism, attention to detail and a down-to-earth approach

In addition you have solid communication skills; stacks of energy; be resilient and a high degree of confidentiality.

The organisation has a peak harvest period from mid February until the end of June.  At that time, all employees are expected to work significant additional hours to support this peak including this role, although just Monday to Friday..
