The UCOL Applied Science team are seeking a Lecturer in Science Education to teach on our highly acclaimed science technician training programmes at the Palmerston North Campus. With your expertise in chemistry sciences you will:
- Coordinate, develop and teach in Applied Science (technician training) programmes at both a Diploma and Degree level;
- Facilitate student development of critical practical and analytical skills required by laboratory technicians in a range of scientific industries;
- Maintain an active research portfolio.
The Applied Science programmes are designed to prepare graduates for immediate employment in the technical science sector. Our graduates are highly regarded by industry both nationally and internationally.
The team consider flexibility, innovation and engagement to be key in our staff. Our teaching, research and professional development are aimed to deliver education and evidence-based learning for the future. In the position you will actively contribute to the on-going development of science education within the tertiary environment including the implementation of innovative teaching practices such as the development of the digital learning environment.
Applications are welcome from scientists with practical experience in the field of chemistry including analytical chemistry methods using chromatography, spectroscopy and industrial environmental analysis and related fields. Ideally you will have a completed postgraduate science degree with recent hands on, relevant industry or research experience of at least 2 years. Experience in science education and/or training technicians would be an advantage.
This role is a permanent, full time (40 hours a week (1 FTE)) position.
