Are you looking for a leadership role that will see you working with a team managing building approvals across a diverse and stunning district? If so, then Southland District Council is the place for you.

We have two exciting opportunities in our building solutions team.  We are looking for both a Manager Building Solutions and a Building Solutions Technical Lead.  These are pivotal roles in terms of Council’s responsibilities under the Building Act 2004, which include processing of building consents and code compliance certificates. Providing a timely, friendly and efficient service to our valued customers is crucial, while also ensuring quality and durability standards and professional accreditation are maintained.

The Building Solutions Manager is responsible for leading the team and our ideal candidate will be a master of all trades with a portfolio that demonstrates strengths such as savvy interpersonal skills, a customer centric focus, both written and oral communication aptitude, the ability to provide forward-thinking advice and solutions, a drive to challenge the status quo and a focus on quality assurance and continuous improvement. 

But most importantly you will be a strong people leader whose proficiency in developing high performing teams and empowering others speaks for itself.  It would be ideal if you held the appropriate building control qualification but there is strong technical support from within the team so if you have the management experience we are looking for and an interest in the building control environment then we would welcome your application.
