If you are on the lookout for ways to maximise your recruitment dollar, check out the use of social media in recruitment and keep up the conversation with your potential employees. In this newsletter we also address a Frequently Asked Question, and look at the increasing demand for Customised Recruitment Solutions. What Social Media do companies use for recruiting? Source: Jobvite Social Recruiting Report 2011 Statistics show a continuing increase in the use of Social Media for both recruitment, and engaging with current and potential employees. Simon Oldham, our Corporate Business Manager, recently spoke at the HRINZ Bay of Plenty meeting to address recent trends. Simon recommends using social media to find, attract and build relationships with potential candidates. "It is the face of your organisation and a way to showcase your working environment. Your loyal fans can make the best talent pool." If desired, we can provide you with the technology to create a talent pool that captures job interest from your social media sites, and your general recruitment advertising as well as other sources. We recommend the website social media examiner for keeping up to date on social media trends. Like us on Facebook FAQ : When is the best time to tell a candidate that they didn't get the job?
There is no right or wrong answer to this question. As a general rule, we recommend that if you are definitely not going to consider the applicant for the role, you should notify them asap. You might hold off on notifying candidates who may possibly be suitable until you have reached an appointment decision - just in case you need to revisit your candidate list later. The important thing to remember is to take a few minutes when you have filled your vacancy to ensure you have informed all candidates of the outcome. No-one likes to be left hanging for too long ... and it's good for your recruitment brand.
