Oceana Gold (New Zealand) Limited has a reputation for operational innovation and environmental responsibility. Oceana Gold owns and operates the Macraes open pit and Frasers underground gold mines in Otago, and the Globe Progress open pit mine near Reefton on the West Coast.
With continued operational growth we are now in a position to expand our exploration programme. The Reefton Goldfield has a diverse mining history and is world class, having produced approximately ten million ounces of gold.
We are ramping up an exploration programme that will integrate detailed structural mapping; structural interpretation of drill core, soil sampling, and helicopter supported drilling.
The primary responsibilities for this role are:
- Geological/Structural field mapping programs to identify target areas
- Supervision of geochemical sampling, trenching and field work
- To assist with training and mentoring field personnel
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Geology are essential along with demonstrated high level structural mapping skills. The successful candidate for this position will also have a high regard for health & safety, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as contributing to the team.
